Texas vs. the Nation Announces Western Refining as 2008 Title Sponsor



Western Refining Texas vs. the Nation Challenge

El Paso, TX - Texas vs. The Nation organizers announced Thursday, August 23, 2007 that Western Refining will be the title sponsor for the 2008 game. The game will be held at Sun Bowl Stadium Saturday, February 2, 2008.

During a press conference held at the Durham Center on the campus of UTEP, Kenny Hansmire, CEO of Overtime Sports Southwest, L.L.C., which organizes the game, unveiled the new logo stating, "We are very honored and pleased that Western Refining has committed to join our team and sponsor this event."

Jeff Stevens, Executive Vice President for Western Refining added, "We are sponsoring Texas vs. the Nation because we believe it can continue to bring national recognition to El Paso, with significant regional economic impact."

Stevens also announced that Western Refining will be donating 10,000 game tickets to soldiers and military personnel stationed at Ft. Bliss.

Hansmire also announced Thursday that the game will be bringing approximately 500 cheerleaders/dancers to El Paso for the 2008 game to participate in half-time festivities. The group will come from throughout Texas and include several dozen local El Paso girls.

The 2008 event will again feature top seniors from Texas taking on top seniors from around the Nation. Buddy Ryan will return as Head Coach for Team Nation and game executives are working with the NFL to secure a prominent Coach for Team Texas.
